Makrura are a crab-like sentient people who inhabit the coasts of Kalimdor. Covered in hard chitin armor and armed with heavy pincers, they build caste colonies right at the waterline and fiercely defend them from outsiders. In the sea bestiary the makrura are the coast's most organized dwellers.
Do not confuse makrura with wild crabs: makrura are sentient, split into castes and cannot be tamed by hunters.
What the makrura are
The makrura are an ancient race whose civilization reaches back to the age before Azeroth's Sundering. They resemble upright crabs: chitin armor, stalked eyes and pincers able to crush shell and bone. They live in colonies divided into castes — from rank-and-file warriors and throwers to priests and leaders.
Though sentient, the makrura keep to themselves and are hostile to nearly every land-walking people that intrudes on their shallows. For players that means: approach the water ready for a fight.
