A cursed legacy
Medivh was the son of Aegwynn, the previous Guardian, who secretly placed the spirit of Sargeras within her unborn son. When it awoke, that power dominated Medivh and turned his gift against the world he swore to protect. His story warns how even the greatest hero can become a tool of the Burning Legion.
The Dark Portal
Ruled by Sargeras, Medivh contacted the orc warlock Gul'dan and helped open the Dark Portal, letting the orcish Horde into Azeroth. So began the First War, in which Stormwind fell. The Guardian's betrayal cost the humans their capital.
Death in Karazhan
The young mage Khadgar uncovered the truth, and together with Anduin Lothar they struck down the possessed Guardian in his tower Karazhan. In WoW Classic that citadel looms grimly in Deadwind Pass.
Return of the Prophet
Cleansed of the taint, Medivh's spirit returned as the mysterious Prophet on the eve of the Third War. He warned Jaina, Thrall and the night elves, uniting them against the Legion at Mount Hyjal.
Medivh and the fate of Azeroth
No character shaped Azeroth as much as Medivh: without him there would be no orcish invasion, no Horde as we know it, no alliance against the Legion. His figure is a reminder that the line between the world's savior and its destroyer is thinner than it seems. For the player, Medivh is the key to all early history.
On the WowX5 server (x5)
In WoW Classic on WowX5 x5 you can travel to Deadwind Pass and see Karazhan with your own eyes — in Vanilla the tower is closed, but its silhouette recalls the Guardian's tragedy. Medivh's story opens the whole cycle of Warcraft legends.
