Mooncloth: Pattern from Qia, Moonwell Locations and the 4-Day Cooldown
Mooncloth is the most valuable cloth in WoW Classic 1.12.1: no monster drops it. A tailor makes it from two pieces of Felcloth at a moonwell, and only once every four days. On the WoW x5 server you level faster, but the Mooncloth cooldown stays the same, so every piece counts. Below are exact data from our game server database: where to get the pattern, where to make Mooncloth and what to spend it on.

How to learn the Mooncloth recipe
Mooncloth is not taught by tailoring trainers. The recipe comes from Pattern: Mooncloth, sold by a single NPC: the goblin Qia, a Trade Goods Supplies vendor in Everlook, the neutral town of Winterspring. It requires Tailoring 250 and costs 2 gold at base price. In our server database Qia's stock of this pattern is unlimited.
The easiest route to the town is described in our Everlook guide. If your skill is still below 250, level the profession first with the tailoring guide, which lists every recipe step from linen to runecloth.
◆Where to make Mooncloth: moonwells
The recipe needs 2 Felcloth and works only next to a moonwell; without one the craft button stays grey. In our server database moonwells that count as the required focus are placed in many night elf settlements:
- Moonglade: the moonwells near Nighthaven. The zone is neutral, which makes it the main option for the Horde; the quickest route is in how to get to Moonglade.
- Teldrassil and Darnassus: convenient for Alliance players whose hearthstone is set in the capital.
- Darkshore: the moonwell at Auberdine.
- Feralas: the moonwell in Feathermoon Stronghold.
- Felwood: even the corrupted moonwells work here, for example at the Ruins of Constellas. The same zone is also a source of Felcloth itself.

◆The cooldown: 4 days per Mooncloth
The Mooncloth spell has a 4-day (96-hour) cooldown. That value comes from our server spell table and the Classic tooltip. The cooldown is per character: one tailor yields one Mooncloth every four days, no matter how much Felcloth sits in the bags. That is why experienced players keep two or three tailor alts with the pattern and visit the moonwell in turns.
Mooncloth itself is a plain white reagent: it does not bind, stacks to 20 and sells to a vendor for 40 silver. It trades freely on the Auction House, and its price stays high precisely because of the cooldown. How to turn that into a steady income is covered in the gold farming guide.

◆What tailors make from Mooncloth
Mooncloth goes into high-end tailoring patterns (skill 290 to 300). Almost all of them also need bolts of runecloth and Rune Thread. Below are the amounts from our server spell table.
| Item | Mooncloth | Other key reagents |
|---|---|---|
| Mooncloth Bag, 16 slots | 1 | 4 Bolts of Runecloth |
| Mooncloth Leggings | 4 | 6 Bolts of Runecloth |
| Mooncloth Vest | 4 | 6 Bolts of Runecloth |
| Mooncloth Robe | 4 | 6 Bolts, 2 Golden Pearls |
| Mooncloth Shoulders | 5 | 5 Bolts of Runecloth |
| Mooncloth Gloves | 6 | 12 Bolts, 2 Golden Pearls |
| Mooncloth Circlet | 6 | 4 Bolts, Azerothian Diamond |
| Bottomless Bag, 18 slots | 12 | 8 Bolts, 2 Core Leather |
| Truefaith Vestments | 10 | 12 Bolts, Righteous Orb |
| Belt of the Archmage | 10 | 16 Bolts, Essence of Fire and Water |
| Flarecore Robe | 10 | Fiery Core, Lava Core |
There are smaller uses too. Two Mooncloth go into the Satchel of Cenarius, whose pattern Mishta sells in Cenarion Hold at Revered with the Cenarion Circle, and into Gaea's Embrace and the Sylvan Crown. The Bloodvine pieces from Zul'Gurub take 3 to 4 Mooncloth, while the Mantle of the Timbermaw and the Argent Shoulders take 5 each. Leatherworkers need 2 Mooncloth for the Living Breastplate.
Many Mooncloth patterns drop in dungeons and from level 55 to 60 monsters. The Mooncloth Robe, on the other hand, is bought: the Shen'dralar Provisioner in Dire Maul sells its pattern. A detailed breakdown of every pattern source is in tailoring patterns, and the bags are covered in tailoring bags.
Plan ahead: the Bottomless Bag needs 12 Mooncloth. That is 6 cooldowns, or 24 days for a single tailor. Two alts with the pattern cut that time in half.
◆Where to get Felcloth
Each Mooncloth needs 2 Felcloth. It drops only from demons of level 50 to 62: satyrs of Felwood and Azshara, the demons of Darkwhisper Gorge and the Blasted Lands, and the east wing of Dire Maul. The full list of mobs and drop rates is on the Felcloth page, and an overview of every cloth and thread is in the tailoring materials hub.

FAQ
?Where do I buy the Mooncloth pattern?
Pattern: Mooncloth is sold by the goblin Qia, a Trade Goods Supplies vendor in Everlook, Winterspring. It requires Tailoring 250 and costs 2 gold at base price. Tailoring trainers do not teach it.
?What is the Mooncloth cooldown in 1.12.1?
According to our server database the cooldown is 4 days (96 hours). It is per character, so each window gives exactly one Mooncloth from two Felcloth.
?Where can Horde make Mooncloth?
The most convenient moonwells for the Horde are in Moonglade near Nighthaven, a neutral zone, and in Felwood, where even corrupted moonwells work. Alliance can also use the moonwells of Teldrassil and Darkshore.
?Can Mooncloth be sold on the Auction House?
Yes. Mooncloth does not bind and stacks to 20, so it can be traded, auctioned and mailed to alts. A vendor pays only 40 silver for it, so selling it to an NPC is a waste.
