Intellect — WoW Classic stat
Vanilla WoW Classic 1.12 · x5 realm · wowx5.ruIntellect is a primary stat of WoW Classic that governs a character's magical capacity. For mana-using classes intellect is the foundation: it decides how many spells you can cast and how often they crit. It is the leading stat of the mage and warlock on the WowX5 x5 server.
Intellect helps only those with mana. There is no point in a warrior or rogue stacking it, while a caster without intellect runs dry in even a short fight.
What intellect does
Intellect works in three directions:
- Mana pool. Each point of intellect above the base gives about 15 mana. More intellect means a longer fuel tank for spells.
- Spell critical strike. Intellect raises the chance to land a spell with a critical effect, boosting magic damage and healing.
- Weapon skill gains. A minor but real effect: high intellect speeds up training a new weapon skill.
For a caster the first two points are the core of survival and damage: without a mana pool and spell crit there is neither steady damage nor reliable healing.
Who needs intellect
| Class | Role | Value of intellect |
|---|---|---|
| Mage | DPS | Mana and spell crit — the core |
| Warlock | DPS | Mana pool for a long fight |
| Priest | Healer, DPS | Mana for healing and damage |
| Paladin, shaman, druid | Healer, caster | Mana and crit in a magic role |
Pure warriors and rogues barely need intellect — their power lies in strength and agility.
Intellect and spirit
Intellect often pairs with spirit: intellect sets the size of the mana pool, while spirit sets how fast it refills. A caster-healer values both stats, but they balance differently. Understanding this pairing is the key to smart gearing. Check the combat mechanics to size the mana pool your content needs.
How to gain intellect
Intellect comes from cloth gear, staves and wands, chest and weapon enchants, elixirs of wisdom and arcane scrolls, plus a caster's pre-raid set. Create a mage or warlock on WowX5 x5 and unleash the full might of Azeroth's magic.
FAQ
What does intellect do in WoW Classic
Intellect increases the maximum mana pool for mana-using classes and raises spell critical strike chance. Each point of intellect above the base gives about 15 mana.
Which classes need intellect
Intellect is the leading stat for mages, warlocks and priests, and it also matters to paladins, shamans and druids in a healing or casting role. It is nearly useless to warriors and rogues, who have no mana.
Does intellect affect weapon skills
Yes. In WoW Classic intellect speeds up weapon skill gains: the higher your intellect, the faster you level a new weapon skill. It is a pleasant side effect of the stat.
