Zul'jin: warlord of the Amani forest trolls

◆The Amani empire

Long before humans, the northern forests of the Eastern Kingdoms belonged to the forest troll empire of the Amani. The high elves who founded Quel'Thalas took its lands, and the millennia-long feud became the core of Amani troll history.

◆Alliance with the Horde

In the Second War Zul'jin was captured by the Alliance. He was freed by the warriors of Orgrim Doomhammer, and in gratitude the warlord brought the forest trolls into the Horde. The trolls became scouts and axe throwers of the orc army.

◆Fire over Quel'Thalas

Together with the Horde's dragons Zul'jin ravaged the high elf forests. He hoped to destroy Quel'Thalas forever, but the Horde pulled its forces to storm Lordaeron and the elven kingdom survived — something the warlord never forgave the orcs.

◆The warlord's scars

After the Horde's defeat the elves captured Zul'jin and tortured him, taking an eye. To escape captivity he cut off his own arm. From then on his hatred of the elves burned even fiercer.

◆Forest trolls in WoW Classic

You won't meet Zul'jin himself in Vanilla, but his people are everywhere. Forest trolls inhabit the Hinterlands, the Arathi Highlands and the Plaguelands, and the Horde-friendly Revantusk tribe holds a village in the Hinterlands.

◆Why it matters

Zul'jin explains the ancient feud between trolls and elves and why the forest trolls of the Eastern Kingdoms are so hostile. It is the foundation for understanding all of Azeroth's troll tribes.
