Wraiths — Incorporeal Spirits of the Scourge
Wraiths are the incorporeal undead of the Scourge: spirits of the dead trapped between life and death by the will of the Lich King. They have no body — only a cold knot of hatred and remembered pain. They are among the most chilling forms of undead a WoW Classic hero can face.
A wraith is dangerous because steel often passes through it. Against incorporeal undead, value magic, holy damage, and abilities that strike the spirit rather than the flesh.

◆What Wraiths Are
When a person dies in agony and the soul finds no rest, Scourge necromancy can bind that spirit to the living world. So a wraith is born — an incorporeal silhouette glowing with cold fire, stripped of all but spite. It does not remember its name, only its hatred.
Wraiths glide above the ground, pass through walls, and shrug off ordinary weapons. Their touch freezes the blood and smothers the will: the victim weakens, loses their mind, and becomes easy prey.
◆Place Among the Scourge
Wraiths are the spirit host of the Scourge, set apart from corporeal undead like ghouls and skeletons. Kin to them are the banshees, spirits of fallen high elves whose wail kills. The incorporeal servants answer to liches, whose magic keeps the spirits bound to the world.
This mastery over another's will links the Scourge to the demons of the Burning Legion: both turn a soul into a weapon against its own kin.

In the Vanilla era wraiths fill the Western and Eastern Plaguelands, the ruins of Stratholme, the halls of Scholomance, and the vaults of Naxxramas. Many guard treasure or keep watch over tombs, striking anyone who disturbs their eternal vigil.
For a player this is an enemy with character: incorporeal, resistant to physical damage, demanding a different approach than a mob of rotting corpses.
