WoW Classic Bandages: Healing, Cloth and Recipe Table
Bandages in WoW Classic are the main product of First Aid: they restore health without mana, work on yourself and on allies, and every class from warrior to mage benefits from them. This reference lists all 10 bandages of patch 1.12.1 with exact numbers from item tooltips, the cloth they need, the skill and where each recipe comes from. On the WoW x5 server cloth drops fast, so a stack of bandages fills your bags from the very first levels.

◆What bandages are and how they work
A bandage is a consumable you apply to yourself or a friendly target, including pets. Healing is not instant: it ticks in equal parts over 6 to 8 seconds, so bandaging is a channeled effect. Creating a bandage takes 3 seconds and needs nothing but cloth, and one stack holds 20 bandages.
Key mechanics:
- Damage interrupts bandaging. Any hit or periodic damage tick ends the channel and the remaining healing is lost.
- Recently Bandaged. After each bandage the target gets a debuff for 1 minute and cannot be bandaged again until it fades. The debuff is applied even when the bandage was interrupted.
- Use skill is lower than craft skill. For example, Heavy Runecloth Bandage is learned at 290, yet you can use it at 225 skill.
For the full 1–300 skill-up route see the First Aid guide, and for a short profession card see the First Aid profession page.

How to get bandage recipes
- First Aid trainer. Linen, Wool and Silk bandages (regular and heavy) are taught by First Aid trainers in capitals and major towns. The Apprentice (up to 75) and Journeyman (up to 150) ranks are trained there too.
- Manuals from vendors. Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage (skill 180) and Manual: Mageweave Bandage (skill 210) are sold by Deneb Walker at Stromgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands for the Alliance and by Balai Lok'Wein at Brackenwall Village in Dustwallow Marsh for the Horde. They also sell the book Expert First Aid - Under Wraps, which raises the skill cap to 225.
- Trauma doctors. Heavy Mageweave Bandage (240), Runecloth Bandage (260) and Heavy Runecloth Bandage (290) are taught for free by Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen in Foothold Citadel on Theramore Isle (Alliance) and Doctor Gregory Victor in Hammerfall (Horde).
- Artisan 300. The final rank is unlocked with the Triage quest from VanHowzen or Gregory Victor: save 15 patients before 6 of them die. The reward includes 20 Heavy Runecloth Bandages.
The Theramore guide shows the way to the Alliance doctor, and Arathi Highlands leveling covers the road to Hammerfall.

Heavy Runecloth Bandage tooltip
This is the healing ceiling for bandages in 1.12.1: 2000 health over 8 seconds, or 250 per second, at no mana or energy cost. At level 60 one bandage restores a large part of a warrior's or rogue's health pool between pulls.
◆Who needs bandages and why
- Warriors and rogues — the only way to heal without food or potions; a bandage between fights saves downtime.
- Hunters — bandage yourself and your pet while the pet holds the target.
- Healers and casters — a backup heal when your mana runs dry.
- Dungeons and raids — top yourself off during a pause without distracting the healer. See the raid consumables guide for the full kit.
Only bandage when no damage over time is ticking on you: cleanse the poison with an anti-venom first, then bandage. Otherwise the first poison tick breaks the channel and Recently Bandaged still locks you out for a minute.
Tips
- Carry the best bandage you can use: Heavy Runecloth Bandage heals almost one and a half times more than Runecloth Bandage.
- Start bandaging as soon as the enemy loses interest in you, for example after Vanish or Feign Death.
- First Aid is a secondary skill and does not take a primary profession slot; compare it with Cooking and Fishing in the secondary professions overview.
- Keep Well Fed food next to your bandages — the dishes are collected in the cooking recipes hub.
