Antonidas: grand magus of Dalaran

◆Head of the Kirin Tor

For decades Antonidas led the Council of Six and made Dalaran the strongest center of human magic. In the Second War the mages of the Kirin Tor fought for the Alliance, and Antonidas was among the most respected advisors of King Terenas.

◆Banishing Kel'Thuzad

One of the Council's members was the necromancer Kel'Thuzad, who secretly studied forbidden magic. The Kirin Tor expelled him, but Kel'Thuzad entered the Lich King's service and founded the Cult of the Damned, which spread the plague.

◆Mentor of Jaina

Antonidas's most famous pupil was young Jaina Proudmoore. He sent her with Prince Arthas to investigate a mysterious plague in the northern lands. That is how Jaina witnessed Arthas's fall into darkness.

◆The fall of Dalaran

In the Third War Arthas, now a death knight, came to Dalaran for the Book of Medivh to summon the demon lord Archimonde. Antonidas fell fighting him, and Archimonde reduced the city to ruins.

◆Dalaran in WoW Classic

In the Vanilla era the surviving Kirin Tor mages rebuild the city under a violet protective dome on the border of Alterac and Hillsbrad. You cannot enter, but you can see the ruins and the dome with your own eyes.

◆Why it matters

The death of Antonidas and the destruction of Dalaran were among the Alliance's heaviest losses. Knowing this story makes it easier to understand the path of Jaina, who founded Theramore in Kalimdor.
