Arcanite Bar in WoW Classic: Transmute and Uses

The Arcanite Bar is the best-known metal of Vanilla: it goes into the Arcanite Reaper, the Sulfuron Hammer and dozens of level 60 items. It is not mined from ore — only an alchemist can create Arcanite with a transmute. What Arcanite Is and Why You Need It

The Arcanite Bar is an uncommon (green) quality material, item level 55, stacking to 20. It is a key reagent for blacksmiths, engineers and even tailors and miners at endgame. Arcanite stays valuable because of two limits: the Arcane Crystal drops rarely from thorium veins, and the transmute itself has a long cooldown. How to Get an Arcanite Bar

  1. Level Alchemy to 275.
  2. Buy Recipe: Transmute Arcanite from Alchemist Pestlezugg in Gadgetzan — the goblin town in Tanaris is covered in the Gadgetzan guide.
  3. Get a Philosopher's Stone — the tool for all transmutes; it binds when picked up, so the alchemist makes it personally.

  5. Cast Transmute: Arcanite — 25 seconds, and the bar appears in your bags.

Where Arcanite Goes: Key Recipes

  • Blacksmithing. The Arcanite Reaper takes 20 bars, 6 Enchanted Leather and 2 Dense Grinding Stones; the plans require skill 300 and the Master Axesmith specialization and drop from Bannok Grimaxe in Blackrock Spire (Lower Blackrock Spire). Arcanite also goes into the Arcanite Champion, Annihilator, Hammer of the Titans, Frostguard, Heartseeker, Lionheart Helm and Runic plate armor.
  • Sulfuron Hammer — the intermediate item for Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros: 50 Arcanite Bars together with Sulfuron Ingots, Dark Iron and Molten Core materials.
  • Elementium Bar for Thunderfury — 10 Arcanite per bar (Mining).
  • Arcanite Rod (Blacksmithing 275): 3 Arcanite + a Dense Grinding Stone. Enchanters turn it into the Runed Arcanite Rod.
  • Engineering. The Delicate Arcanite Converter (1 Arcanite + Ironweb Spider Silk) is a part for many level 60 schematics; also the Force Reactive Disk and the Arcanite Skeleton Key.
  • Tailoring. Cloak of Warding.

Arcanite Economy Tips

  • The cooldown is long, so it pays to keep an alchemist alt and transmute every time it comes off cooldown.
  • Arcane Crystals usually cost less than a finished bar — if you have your own alchemist, do not sell crystals.
  • Demand for Arcanite rises before Molten Core runs and the endgame push: prepare bars in advance.
