Of all the Aspects, Alexstrasza is the closest to mortals: her breath heals, and her flight helps failing peoples endure. The red dragons have for ages stood as guardians of life against undeath and destruction.
The War of the Ancients
When Neltharion forged the Dragon Soul and betrayed his kin during the War of the Ancients, the red flight suffered terrible losses. The betrayal of the future Deathwing changed the fate of all five flights forever.
Captive of the Dragonmaw
In the Second War the orcs of the Dragonmaw clan seized the Demon Soul and enslaved Alexstrasza, chaining her beneath Grim Batol. She was forced to breed dragons for the Horde until mortal heroes destroyed the artifact and freed the queen.
The Red Flight in Vanilla
In WoW Classic the red flight's mark is seen in Blackwing Lair: the noble red dragon Vaelastrasz was captured and corrupted by Nefarian. By freeing or laying such dragons to rest, players touch the legacy of the Life-Binder.
A Symbol of Hope
