How to Get to Blackrock Depths

Where the entrance is

The BRD portal sits at the bottom of Blackrock Mountain, down by the lava chasm in the Grinding Quarry area. Blackrock Mountain is a shared complex, so you must go down, not up toward the Spires.

◆How to enter Blackrock Mountain

1. The mountain entrance is on the side of Burning Steppes (south entrance) or Searing Gorge (north).
2. Once inside you stand on a ring-shaped ledge around a huge lava chasm.

The descent (the famous route)

Many newcomers get lost at this step:

1. From the entrance follow the edge of the ledge counter-clockwise, going down.
2. Reach the point where a large chain hangs into the chasm — climb down it (or the descending path) to the lower level.
3. At the bottom, by the lava, find the Blackrock Depths portal in the quarry area.

Tip: hug the edge and do not fall into the lava. On x5 a BRD group forms easily — it is a key endgame dungeon.

Molten Core attunement

At the bottom of BRD you gather the shard for the Heart of the Mountain — with it you can summon the raid entrance at the Molten Core portal. The full chain is in the Molten Core attunement guide and the dungeon keys guide.

◆Next steps

Boss and loot breakdown is on the Blackrock Depths dungeon page. The neighboring raid at the summit is Blackwing Lair.
