How to Get to Blackrock Spire (LBRS and UBRS)
Blackrock Spire is a pair of level 55-60 dungeons: the Lower Spire (LBRS) and Upper Spire (UBRS) in the upper part of Blackrock Mountain, stronghold of the Blackhand orcs and the dragon Nefarian. First you must enter the mountain and climb to the top.
◆Where Blackrock Spire is
Blackrock Mountain sits on the border of Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes. Inside is a large central chamber over lava: Blackrock Depths (BRD) lies at the bottom, while the Spire entrance is up top, across the bridges and chains.
How to get there
- Enter Blackrock Mountain: the mountain portal has an entry on the Searing Gorge side (west) and the Burning Steppes side (east).
- Inside, head up along the ledges and the swinging bridge — unlike the descent to BRD, the Spire is reached by climbing toward the summit.
- Jump across the chains/platforms to the upper opening — there is the shared LBRS/UBRS portal.
LBRS vs UBRS entrance
| Dungeon | Access |
|---|---|
| Lower Spire (LBRS) | Open right away, 5 players |
| Upper Spire (UBRS) | Door opened by the Seal of Ascension |
| Seal of Ascension | Quest item from the LBRS chain |
Tip: on x5 the Spire is a key source of pre-raid BiS and attunement. For full breakdowns see the Lower Spire and Upper Spire pages.

To open UBRS, someone in the group needs the Seal of Ascension, assembled through a quest chain in the Lower Spire. On x5 one seal holder is enough: they activate the orb at the door and the whole group enters. Bring the seal in advance or the Upper Spire stays locked.
