How to Get to Azshara: the Ashenvale Road, Talrendis Point and Valormok
How to get to Azshara is a common question around level 45: the zone sits in a remote corner of northeastern Kalimdor, and your first trip there has to be on foot. This guide for the WoW x5 server covers step-by-step routes for the Alliance and the Horde, flight points and landmarks.
Contents
◆Where Azshara is
Azshara is an autumn-coloured coastal zone in northeastern Kalimdor. Ashenvale lies to the west, and the Southfury River separates it from Durotar in the south. The recommended level is roughly 45-55. For a full zone overview see Azshara in the wiki.
The main land entrance is the main road of Ashenvale: it runs east and crosses a bridge on the border into southwestern Azshara. Both faction camps sit close to this entrance.
How to get there as Alliance
The Alliance has no flight point in Azshara before the first visit, so the route goes through Ashenvale:
- Fly to Astranaar, the main Alliance settlement in Ashenvale.
- Follow the main road east through the whole forest. Be careful near the Horde's Splintertree Post — the road passes right by it.
- At the eastern edge of Ashenvale cross the bridge — you are now in Azshara.
- Right past the bridge, in the southwest of the zone, stands Talrendis Point. Discover the flight point there.
From then on Talrendis Point connects you with Auberdine, Theramore, Everlook and other Alliance points in Kalimdor. All routes are mapped in the flight paths guide.
How to get there as Horde
The Horde has it easier: Azshara borders Orgrimmar and Durotar, and there is a Horde outpost in Ashenvale.
- From Orgrimmar fly to Splintertree Post in eastern Ashenvale.
- Follow the road east to the bridge on the Azshara border.
- Once in Azshara, turn north: the outpost of Valormok stands in the western part of the zone, north of the entrance, by the ruins of the Haldarr Encampment.
- Discover the flight point. From Valormok there are direct flights to Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, the Crossroads and other Horde points.
An alternative for those starting from Orgrimmar on foot is to head north along the Southfury River, partly swimming. It is slower than flying to Ashenvale. For the starting city itself see the Orgrimmar city guide.
Landmarks and zone features
- The faction camps are modest: Valormok and Talrendis Point are frontier outposts with few services and no full set of trainers.
- Further east, among the islands in the bay, you will find Duke Hydraxis — he starts the Hydraxian Waterlords reputation needed for Molten Core.
- The coast and the ruins are full of naga and satyrs — stay near the road if you are below level 45.
- There are no flying mounts in 1.12.1 and no portals to Azshara — only on foot or by flight path.

◆Why go to Azshara
Azshara is a quiet zone for extra experience at 45-55, easy to combine with quests in neighbouring regions. The step-by-step quest route is in the Azshara leveling guide, and the previous stage is covered by the Ashenvale leveling guide.
At level 60 Azshara matters to raids: the world boss Azuregos roams here. Tactics and competition for world bosses are covered in the world boss guide.

FAQ
?How do I get to Azshara for the first time?
On foot from Ashenvale. Fly to the nearest flight point in Ashenvale, then follow the main road east: it crosses a bridge on the border straight into southwestern Azshara. Discover the local flight point there.
?Does Azshara have flight paths?
Yes. The Alliance uses Talrendis Point in the southwest of the zone, the Horde uses Valormok in the west, north of the entrance. You must discover each point once on foot.
?What level is Azshara?
Azshara is roughly a level 45-55 zone. It has fewer quests than neighbouring zones, so players usually combine it with Felwood and Winterspring.
?Where is the world boss Azuregos?
The blue dragon Azuregos patrols southeastern Azshara in the open world. He is a level 60 raid encounter, so do not approach him alone.
