How to get to Eastern Plaguelands is an important question for characters level 53 and up: the zone sits at the far edge of the Eastern Kingdoms, the only land route runs through the neighboring zone, and the single flight path opens only after your first visit. Where Eastern Plaguelands is

Eastern Plaguelands is the northeastern edge of the former kingdom of Lordaeron. To the west, the Thondroril River separates it from Western Plaguelands; to the south lie the mountains of the Hinterlands; to the east is the sea. The recommended level is 53-60. Main landmarks: Light’s Hope Chapel in the east, the city of Stratholme in the north, Plaguewood with Naxxramas hovering above it, the Scarlet Crusade fortress of Tyr’s Hand in the southeast, and Corin’s Crossing in the center.

How to get there as Alliance

  1. Fly to Chillwind Camp in Western Plaguelands. If you have not discovered it yet, see how to get to Western Plaguelands.
  2. Follow the zone roads northeast to the Thondroril River on the eastern border.
  3. Cross the river by the bridge and you are in Eastern Plaguelands.
  4. Follow the road east through the middle of the zone to Light’s Hope Chapel and discover the flight path.

After that, Light’s Hope has flights to Chillwind Camp, Ironforge, and Aerie Peak.

How to get there as Horde

  1. From the Undercity, head east through Tirisfal Glades to the Bulwark.
  2. Cross Western Plaguelands along the main road east. In 1.12.1 the Horde has no flight path there, so the whole way is on foot or mounted.
  3. Cross the Thondroril River and keep going east to Light’s Hope Chapel.
  4. Discover the flight path with Georgia. Flights from the chapel go to the Undercity and to Revantusk Village in the Hinterlands.

Landmarks and dangerous spots

  • Corin’s Crossing is crawling with the Scourge; Unseen Servants roam there and can detect stealthed characters, so even rogues should go around it.
  • Terrorweb Tunnel in the northwest links the bank of the Thondroril with the northern part of the zone; it is full of nerubians.
  • Tyr’s Hand is a Scarlet Crusade town with elite guards, and it is easy to run into patrols on the road leading there.
  • The path to Quel’Thalas near Quel’Lithien Lodge is closed in 1.12.1, as the blood elf lands only appeared in TBC.

How do I get to Eastern Plaguelands for the first time?

Only on foot through Western Plaguelands. The Alliance starts at Chillwind Camp, the Horde starts in the Undercity and goes through the Bulwark. From there the road leads east to the Thondroril River, and Eastern Plaguelands begins on the other side.

Is there a flight path in Eastern Plaguelands?

Yes, at Light’s Hope Chapel in the east of the zone. There are two flight masters: Khaelyn Steelwing for the Alliance and Georgia for the Horde. Each faction can only fly with its own.

What level is Eastern Plaguelands?

Roughly 53-60. It is one of the last leveling zones in Vanilla. The Stratholme dungeon and the Naxxramas raid for level 60 characters are also located here.

Can I go from Eastern Plaguelands to Quel’Thalas?

No. In patch 1.12.1 the path near Quel’Lithien Lodge in the north of the zone is blocked by fallen trees, and the blood elf lands only opened in The Burning Crusade.
