Fire elementals are the living embodiment of the element of fire, the host of Ragnaros the Firelord and denizens of the burning depths of the Elemental Plane. They are among the most dangerous elementals: every blow scorches, and their death erupts in flame. For a WoW Classic player they are both a fearsome foe and a source of valuable reagents.
Against fire elementals it is useless to heal through the damage — their flame burns too fast. Fire resistance and the ability to interrupt an immolation decide the fight far more reliably.
Who fire elementals are
A fire elemental is not a creature of flesh but a mass of living flame given will. It does not eat, sleep or feel fear: as long as fire burns, the elemental will blaze and kill. Such beings are born in the Elemental Plane, where fire is not a phenomenon but an entire realm.
Among fire elementals there are many kinds: small darting sparks, mighty flame guards and vast lords of fire. All are bound to a single will — that of Ragnaros, greatest of the Elemental Lords.
The host of Ragnaros
Fire elementals are the army of Ragnaros, imprisoned in the depths of Molten Core beneath Blackrock Mountain. It is his servants — flamewakers, lords of fire and flame guards — who stand in the path of a raid marching to the Firelord's throne.
The element of fire has warred since ancient times with the earth: Ragnaros seeks to burn the world, while Therazane the Stonemother guards its bedrock. This feud of elements is part of the great lore of the elementals.
